The first question that was put forth, comes from my good friend and colleague, Pastor Kemp Jones.\u00a0 His question was, \u201cIs a hotdog, a sandwich?\u201d\u00a0 While this may not seem like a very deep question, it actually might be.\u00a0 What he might really be asking is, \u201cDo I fit in?\u201d\u00a0 In other words, I feel like a hotdog and I live in a world that seems to only value sandwiches.\u00a0 You are not alone Pastor Kemp.\u00a0 This is a question we all ask.\u00a0 Is the thing that makes me valuable,\u00a0 \u201cwhat I am?\u201d or is it \u201cWhat I do?\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When God created the world, part of the plan of creation was extreme diversity.  Everything was exactly that which it was created to be and did exactly what they were created to do.  That is until God created humans.  (I don\u2019t want to get into a long messy argument about how or how long it took here.)  With human beings, God gave us the ability to see ourselves and how others see us.  In Genesis, Cain saw that his offering to God wasn\u2019t as good as Ables.  His hot dog was perceived less desirable that Ables sandwich.  In Carin\u2019s struggle to accept this, he killed his brother.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I believe that the God who created us, loves us unconditionally and even in spite of how we feel about ourselves, loves us.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t matter if you fit in, or if your gifts are perceived as valuable as the gifts of others.\u00a0 What matters is to be the best hot dog or sandwich that God created you to be.\u00a0 I hope this first attempt at Q and R passes the mustard.\u00a0 Thank you for your question Pastor Kemp and don\u2019t worry, in my book you will always be a sandwhich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
